Speaking practice exercises for Elementary learners (A1/A2)

Work with a partner and ask the following questions to each other:

• Where is David Beckham from? Continue with Brad Pitt, Queen Elizabeth, Mahatma Gandhi, Elvis Presley, Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Pelé, John Lennon, Pablo Picasso, Coco Chanel, Cleopatra, Steve Jobs, Prince Charles and Cristiano Ronaldo.

• What personal information can you find in a business card? What is the age of the famous people above?

• Which of these objects are cheap, which are expensive: a diary, a suitcase, a wallet, shoes, a coat, an umbrella, a CD player, a watch, a camera, a dress, a bag and a bicycle?

• Are you a teacher? Are you from Australia? Are you famous? Are you from Spain? Are you from Sydney? Imagine more questions like this.

• How many children do people have in your country in general?  Ask each other questions about your family. Ask partner to describe the family of a friend.

• What are you doing? What am I doing? Are you writing? Are you having a drink? Are people in your country watching television? Are they having dinner?

• What is your name? What is your surname? What is your nationality?

• What are popular professions for young people in your country?
